Education
OperaFour is committed to raising the profile of creative arts in schools. We are excited to offer a range of packages for all key stages. These will include singing workshops, single performances, workshops, assembly material, GCSE linked series of lessons and an exploration for A-level students in the world of opera.
The companies main aims are to provide workshops that are tightly linked to the national curriculum for music as well as using opera to highlight issues relevant to young people in todays society for an innovative and alternative PHSE programme.
For example, our first production, Rossini’s Cenerentola offers pupils a wonderful introduction to the world of coloratura singing and is also a story that can be used to explore the issues of family and bullying. This particular workshop gives children an opportunity to interact with the singers, to use their voices and explore the world of opera.
It has proved very successful with several schools in Lambeth during the summer term this year. The feedback from staff and pupils was incredibly positive and we are looking forward to doing this workshop again in several schools this academic year.
With many years of educational experience we understand the need to provide a flexible package, therefore we work with individual schools to create a tailor made package. As part of a package we provide work to do before the workshop as well as leaving the teacher follow up work to do with the children.
We would love to hear from you if you would be interested in having an Operafour workshop at your school and would be very happy to meet with you to discuss your requirements.
